With the local TV ABS-CBN Sports+Action partnering with the Thai company Triple CH (who has the license from a bigger broadcasting company beIN Media group), Filipinos can now watch live and FREE Premier League, La Liga and Champions League starting this December 2017.
At the moment only sports bars, Cable TV and/or online live streaming channels are the sources of live football in the country. With this new agreement, this means one can now enjoy football at the comfort of their homes without the extra expenses for added beIN channels on cable, or going to a sports bar or perhaps the forever unreliable and ever elusive online streaming (not to talk about the internet quality).
This is a big win for Filipino football community and we hope for more inspiration, dreams, love, support and growth for the game.
We hope this continues to improve the ever potential football culture, from the grassroots, to behind the scene staff, and most especially the fans (old and new); especially those who watch and support the national team (AZKALS), the first division (PFL), and women’s PFF league live at the stadium.
One aspect we also hope this improves is the quality of officiating starting from the youth level to the amateur leagues and all the way to the top league for both male and female. For a sport to grow, the FA should expose and inspire the officials more and more. Not to the global standard just yet but at least step closer.
It is sad that the first PFL season was NOT officially broadcasted or “properly covered” by a local channel but we are happy with this huge advancement.
